Pre and Post School Program
Pre-school programs focus on early childhood development, helping children build foundational skills in areas like language, social interaction, and motor abilities, while also improving literacy levels through activities like reading, storytelling, and language games. These programs prepare young children for formal schooling by fostering cognitive and emotional growth. Post-school programs, on the other hand, offer after-school care and enrichment, providing children with a safe environment, homework support, and activities that promote creativity, physical activity, and social skills. Both types of programs play a key role in supporting children's overall development and improving literacy.

Vidyavan

The present rate of dropout from schools in the Palghar district is 31.3%. Quality of education is compromised due to less efficient teachers and limited staff. Parenting style is poor as most of the families are Below Poverty Line and illiterate. Children are mostly engaged in helping parents on farms and household chores. Induced slow learning is found in children when we conducted the ASER test on a sample of 60 students of age group12 to 14 years old from 3 different villages. Our baseline survey shows 100% of children need help in English, 88.33%need help in Maths and 51.67% need help in Marathi. Food or sufficient nutrition is also one of the components for children being low in cognitive skills

Impact Stories/Case Study
Little Sonali was born with a congenital disability. She had deformed legs at birth. Her parents are small farmers who struggle to make ends meet. When the assessment happened, she crawled her way to the porch which took us by surprise, since we did not have her background. From the conversations it was evident that the child was perfectly conscious that she was different, but it didn’t play on her mind. She cheerfully mentioned how her friends and her dear guru “Ashwini” took wonderful care of her. They paid special attention that she was included in everything. This included challenging routines like dance which require physical movement. At one such event, the students decided between themselves that they would stay put in one place within a circle formation and move their hands & legs only. Sonali narrated this with excitement and also mentioned how she has many escorts on her way to school
Khushiyon Ki Paatshala
Khushiyon ki Paathshala (KKP) is an after-school education program that was launched at the height of the pandemic. Its core belief is that every child possesses the potential to become a successful individual, positively impacting their families, communities, and society at large. The program specifically focuses on the poorest and most vulnerable children, aiming to empower them through education, social development, and technological skills to help them achieve a high-quality life.
Focus Areas:
- Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Program
- Environmental Studies (EVS)
- Mathematics
- Digital Literacy
- English
The Problem:
Many students from vulnerable communities lack access to quality education, both at home and in school. This deprivation impacts their overall growth and development, limiting their ability to succeed academically and socially.
Vision
KKP aims to Educate, Empower, and Nourish children from the most underprivileged and vulnerable communities, particularly in the slums of Mumbai.
